Badlands Eldercare operates the REALfood Program serving Drumheller and the surrounding communities. In 2017 Badlands Eldercare identified a challenge in the community regarding food security and capacity for seniors to age in place. Our research in meeting with many stakeholders led to the development of the REALfood Program.
The REALfood Program is designed to meet some of the most critical needs;
Grocery Shopping
Meal Preparation
Light Housekeeping
Daily Welfare Checks
The program has been very successful and we have serviced 150+ clients to date, with new clients signing up weekly.
We have decided to formalize our community support activities in our “Feeding it forward” program. On a regular basis we are approached by people wanting to help seniors in need, and at the same time it is heartbreaking when we identify clients who are compromised by financial restrictions. We have supported meals for seniors in need, but the need is too great for us to do this on our own. Feeding it forward is developed as a mechanism for community support to directly impact the lives of seniors in need.
We are hoping that organizations or individuals will support feeding it forward. If you are interested in discussing it further please contact us at 403-820-4646 or 403-334-0005.
